Canadian championship division freestyles

Canadian championship divisions are for Canadian residents of all ages and skill levels. Please see the FAQ on your eligibility to compete in a Canadian championship division. Winners will be seeded to World YoYo Contest 2025.

Each contestant will perform a freestyle trick routine choreographed to music up to the following lengths in each division/round.

1A division (preliminary)1 minute
1A division (final)3 minutes
Open division3 minutes
Each contestant may choose their own music for their freestyle, provided that the music is appropriate for all audiences.

Any form of swearing, slurs, obscenities, or hate speech are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

International division freestyles

International division is for foreigners who are not eligible or do not wish to compete as Canadians. The freestyle format is the same as Championship divisions above, up to 3 minutes without preliminaries. All (but only ONE) of 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, or 5A are allowed.

Winners of International division will not be seeded to World YoYo Contest 2025.

Junior division freestyles

Junior division is for young contestants of any nationality who want to enjoy the fun of performing on stage without having to compete against older and more serious veterans.

The freestyle format is the same as Championship divisions above, but Junior division freestyles are up to 1 minute long, and only 1A style is allowed. The scoring criteria still follows World YoYo Contest 2024 with the following modifications in order to emphasize the performance aspect of the competition.

Winners of Junior division will not be seeded to World YoYo Contest 2025.

Sport ladder

Sport Ladder is a mini-contest where consistency is key! Unlike freestyles, in Sport Ladder each contestant must complete a series of compulsory tricks of increasing difficulty. The contestant who completes the most tricks most consistently wins.
